About me

I’m Helen Garvey, a Fashion and Textile designer working part-time teaching Fashion Design at the Galway Technical Institute. Upon finishing school I studied Fashion design at Grafton Academy and worked in Film and Theatre in costume design and construction before starting my teaching career. Returning to education to complete a degree in Textile design, I specialised in weave and I am a founding member of a textile collective ‘Tidal’. I am currently doing a MA in Creative Practice at GMIT where my interdisciplinary project is a local initiative in pedagogy within the community.
